Having enjoyed the glorious weather over the last few days, it was wonderful to see and hear the Bees buzzing in the sunshine once again – heralding the arrival of Spring !!
With Easter approaching, here’s an interesting thought to ponder on….
THE COFFEE EFFECT
It is well known that acupuncture releases endorphins into the bloodstream. But more recently I came across an article that suggests significant research demonstrates insertion and rotation of our needles stimulates the body to produce adenosines. Adenosines are interesting… they help regulate sleep, can increase energy, help certain heart conditions and lung conditions, encourage vasodilation, assist wound healing, have anti-inflammatory properties, inhibit nerve signals locally helping to ease pain, create signals that cause the brain to churn out natural painkilling endorphins.
Science also advises that the effects of adenosine may be blunted in individuals taking large quantities of methylxanthines, the caffeine in coffee, or theophylline in tea, or theobromine, as found in chocolate… As ever, enjoy in moderation !!
